first post ever: swatches of essie Play Date!!!

hellooo and thank you so much for visiting my blog!
please forgive my un-aesthetic photos HAHA i'm completely new to this so don't hesitate to give me any suggestions or comments!

today the polish that i'm reviewing is Essie Play Date! it's a really unique color--i can't say i've seen many like this! by the way, if you search up swatches of play date it looks like a lilac/lavender polish that is wayy more blue-toned than in real life so just keep that in mind when looking at swatches!
i would describe it as a frivolous, fun-loving purple :) i don't know why but this color reminds me so much of the purple goo in "The Cat in the Hat" movie! maybe that's why it's called Play Date.
the purple goo is actually a pretty good match (90%, i'd say?) for this color haha!

the name really fits the personality of the color too! it's playful, it's bright, it's happy, it's fun...
this is one of my favorite polishes. ever.
which is why it's getting the honor of being my first swatch post!

and sorry about my kinda weirdly shaped nails and uber-dry cuticles... i don't wear gloves while doing the dishes so i guess that's why :P do me a favor and pretend you can't see my cuticles ;)
my middle nail looks messed up because i bumped it on the window when it was semi-dry...sorry about that! i tend to hold my hands out, zombie-style, and move them up n down when waiting for my polish to dry...which often results in bumping into stuff :P

ok enough talking! on to the swatches...

*above* this was three coats of play date taken in indirect sunlight... the streaks you see are all from the fast-drying topcoat i used :( i think i'm not that suited to fast drying ones haha! the polish itself was smooth and self-leveled incredibly well.
btw i use pretty thin coats so that's why it took 3. normally you can get away with 2 :)
this is pretty color accurate i guess...it shows the bright playfulness of the color! :D
